Dominic Yoboué

Dominic Yoboué is a primary school teacher and the author of Kara, a picture book that celebrates self-love and natural Afro hair. His work is driven by a simple but powerful goal: for children, especially those who rarely see themselves in stories, to feel seen, valued and inspired. He is now working on his first middle-grade novel, Sunnybrook Secrets, an adventure set in the heart of South London that weaves friendship, courage and mystery into high-stakes neighbourhood stories. Dominic is not yet published in middle grade, but – in the Chair’s opinion – he is the most exciting MG voice right now, with a writing style that can genuinely excite children for the first time in years.
